Archie Andrews here extending a very warm welcome!
Yes, I am the world famous, and very modest, ventriloquist’s dummy who, with my friend and guardian, Peter Brough, enthralled audiences in theatres nationwide during the 1940’s and 1950’s, and eventually we even had our own radio show called “Educating Archie”.
Together with old Brough we were one of the most popular acts of the time. Our radio show regularly attracted radio audiences of over seventeen million listeners. The show became a gateway for lots of stars who were just starting out on their careers and I will tell you all about them later!
Alas, all good things come to an end and following a brief flirtation with the new phenomenon known as television, Brough decided to retire in 1962. He was all right, he went back to running his family’s business but where did that leave me?
Stuck in a suitcase, that’s where!
But, after forty years stuck in that suitcase, I am back! Ha Ha, and I am setting out on a whole lot of new adventures!
So, please join me and I will take you back to the hey-days of British variety and share my memories of the wonderful variety performers I had the honor of sharing the limelight with!
Cheerio for now and do keep in touch,
